Doctoral Psychology Extern
Mason is an openly LGBT extern pursuing his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School in Washington, DC. He earned a Masters of Professional Studies in Clinical Psychology from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Florida.
Mason strives to create a warm and nonjudgemental therapeutic relationship with those across the neurodiversity spectrum, including but not limited to: depression, anxiety, gender/sexuality, grief, executive function challenges, trauma, autism spectrum, social challenges, self-esteem, and stress. He has experience working with people across the lifespan, including adolescents and young adults, and is interested in working with couples.
In therapy, Mason’s clinical style is deeply collaborative with a focus on supportiveness, authenticity, and affirmation. He believes that each client deserves a custom approach to care and incorporates a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) basis with therapeutic techniques from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and humanistic psychology. While therapy can be challenging, Mason enjoys finding ways to incorporate laughter and humor where appropriate to help clients feel comfortable.
In his free time, Mason enjoys creating art, reading, non-competitive martial arts, anime, indie video games, learning about history, and spending time with his loved ones. He works especially well with clients who have strong interests in creative activities or similar hobbies.
Mason works under the supervision of Dr. Dee Majko.
